I've left the house a handful of times to deliver paintings to porches, to the drive-thru at Dunkin Donuts for a much-needed dozen donuts to freeze for our weekly 'donut day' tradition (we have enough for 3 more weeks) and other than that, we've been inside. It's been hard. Each morning feels like groundhog's day, and while the days seem to go somewhat fast for us, finding the balance between Mom, Wife, Artist, and part-time home school teacher has been challenging, to say the least. Wednesdays seem to be the hardest for me. It's like the weekend has refueled me enough to get through the first two days of the week, but come Wednesday, hump day, I've got the blues. Today is Thursday, so I'm feeling better. It's the final push towards the weekend when even though we'll still be inside, my husband isn't glued to his laptop all day, and we can work on projects we've meant to work on for years.
with a piece called "Angels We Have Heard on High" and evolving from
there, I decided I wanted to try to give back. Staying home seems to be
the easiest way to give back to fellow humans, but since I don't have a
stockpile of N95 masks or gloves, I wanted to find another way to
contribute. I started reading Glennon Doyle's new book, Untamed, and after following her on Instagram, I learned about an organization she leads called Together Rising.
What I liked about this organization is that every single penny that they receive goes to helping families in need. Every. Single. Penny.
And because I'm always a little wary about where donated funds go, I
felt this was a phenomenal organization to contribute to. I decided that
this week I would create angel portraits for sale and that I would donate 100% of the proceeds to this fantastic organization. So far, 5 of the 8 pieces I created have sold. Thank you for your generosity!!
of you probably feel the same; this isn't something we ever thought
would happen for us. While still an emerging artist, I wanted to
contribute in some way by spreading love and joy to people who need it
more than me. If you're struggling right now, you're not alone. Artists
here in NC and globally can find an aggregated list of support through the Art Work Archive.
Send out some positive vibes, contribute in any way you can, and for the love of all that is holy, please stay home.
