The heart and science of color.

color shirt are you wearing right now? Seriously, take a peek. I'll
wait. You may not even realize it, but you're attracted to and opposed
to colors all the time. Think about it - you may adore the color blue
and have it in every room in your home, but orange? SHEESH, get that far
away from me! The tones we use in the design of our homes and offices,
the shade of our cars, the hues of the clothes in our closets, the color
you picked out for your pet's collar all have meaning. I believe that color speaks to us in a way that words cannot and there is science to back it up.
constantly preferring colors and for a particular reason. Colors, like
the words that we use, have energy, meaning and are deeply significant
to us. Just look at the use of color in nature and in our surroundings.
The rich shades of green in our plants and trees, the topaz shimmer of
the ocean, the cornflower blue of a spring sky, the vibrant reds and
pinks of blooming flowers.
of us are familiar with the primary colors of the rainbow as red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The cool thing about
this is that each of these colors is especially fundamental to the
chakra system. If you're not familiar, check out my chakra information.
you're drawn to a particular color you may need the energy that the
color embodies. Going back to the blue you so adore, depending on the
shade of blue, you may be seeking support in the throat chakra, which has a blue hue and energy. This means you may be ministering to your desire to speak up, speak out and hear the truth.
Alternatively, if you're avoiding the color orange like the plague, you may not wish to allow your own creativity,
sensuality or you may be struggling in some relationships. So the next
time you find yourself reaching for that blue shirt, remind yourself
that the colors you're wearing and surrounding yourself in are
communicating to all of us. Kind of cool, right?
I create a painting, I tune into the energy of the colors that I'm
using and that is how each portrait that I conceive integrates the
energy and spirit of healing. This is especially true when painting a Commissioned Portrait
for a client. I meditate and pray over their canvas, intuiting the
colors and the energy of their essence to produce a piece that is deeply
personal and individually meaningful to them for how they can utilize
color in their life and in their own spiritual balancing.
